    I hear ya about wanting to stay close and liking the view; but, the last several times we've been to Benno's, they've had, at best, mediocre food. I think, for me, it's the fact that I KNOW they've put out something far better on a consistent basis--they're capable of much better. It bothers me when places like that fall back

    The latest one we tried, across from Stewart Beach, is one of the newest Comfort Inn and Suites. We used to go to the La Quinta Inn and Suites clear down at the other end for about the same price, but they raised their rates quite a bit, not just on weekends, but all the time. Very disappointing. The Comfort I & S is comfortable, has an okay breakfast

    We've been going to Galv for many years now--it's a favorite vacation spot. A favorite place to have great seafood, in the past, has always been Benno's. Sadly, the last time we went, 5-18-09, we were VERY disappointed. My fried shrimp were very small and extremely tough and rubbery. My husbands fried oysters weren't much better. This

    Yes, but like I said before, we've come to Galveston every year during the holidays for several years and this is the first time that the prices are this high. And it's just this one motel. I appreciate your input, but I really don't think the price increase at the motel has anything to do with the Dickens on the Strand. I've known about
