  • my reservations were cancelled
    06-02-2008 1:48 PM

Hi I had reservations @ the Ocean Grove condos for July 12, 13, 13 and departing on the 15th.  I e-mailed the owner today to ask about final payment and she informed me she sold the unit and is not available, she will refund my deposit.  Well thank you, that's very kind of you southerner.  Gee it's June 2 i arrive on July 12th with the family and have no place to stay.  I'm searching now but most places are booked.  I need a condo for 7 people near the seawall.  Anyone have any ideas.  Thanks Tom from Mass

Well how rude of them to cancel without so much as a phone call!

Casa del Mar has a good location, a nice floor plan and is reasonably priced I have not stayed there, however when I had planned to stay there and had to cancel my reservations last minute they were very kind. They get an A+ from me for customer Service.

Seascape is great.  We stay there when are going to be on the island more than 2 days.  Have been there in the summer, fall, and winter (dickens on the strand)

have not been disappointed at all.  basically private beach. no seawall.really nice and quiet at night.  accomodations vary from unit to unit, but we have stayed in several different ones, and they have all been great. pool, hottub, private beach access.

I agree, Seascape is a great complex.  Family friendly, private beach access, no busy seawall to cross.  They have bbq grills and picnic tables, nice balconies, great pool and helpful staff.

Tom, that is such a shame to find out with such a short notice that you don't have a place to stay. I remember how hard you worked at this, too. Well, just move one and don't let this preform your ideas about your vacation. I've not stayed at Seascape, but I think on my next "vacation" to Galveston, I will try that. I like being on the beach. Good luck to you and I hope your family has a delightful experience on the Island.

You are unique just like everyone else. Hmm

Well, thanks for all your support...i guess all texans are'nt bad.  I did find a place @ Maravilla resort.  My children will have to deal w/ bunkbeds but..oh well.  I just hope the person i just spoke to was legit.  I searched all day and night to find a place.  Most were booked. I found this place, at Maravilla, on VRBO.com (vacation rental by owner).  It looks nice and we are only there for 3 nights so i hope it works.  I am just a little leary now of booking on the internet.  I did actually speak to the woman but who knows.  I had looked)yesterday) into hotel rooms but the prices were way more and actually most had no vacancies.  I can't wait for a vacay.  My wife works full time and i work 2 jobs.  We need some nice texas down time.  We usually go to the beach up here in the northeast but are looking forward to some warm water.  I will be looking around this site to find answers to my old questions.  Thanks  Tom from Massachusetts

Sorry you had to go through that.  If I may ask, which unit # did you book at the Maravilla?  If it is listed on VRBO, I'm sure it will be fine.

     Hi Tom, Smile

I am new to this board, but not to Galveston. We have stayed at the Casa Del Mar and it is lovely. We made our reservations through Casa Bling.com.

Jay and his wife, Taz are great people! Their site is www.casabling.com or Taz@casabling.com   The condo suites that they have online are charming. The Seascape, is awesome! We stayed there on our anniversary a few years ago and were most pleased with having the gulf as our front yard for a whole week. The decor was very everthing you would want in a beach front condo.

    Hope this helps some. Enjoy!

Not sure which unit but i think it is on the 2nd fl facing the gulf (and the seawall).  I hope the traffic isn't too bad at night(sleep time)???  Tom from the northeast

Maravilla is far enough out west that the traffic on the Seawall should not be bad at all.  I don't know of any special events taking place in mid-July that would warrant much traffic on the west end.

Although July 4th weekend should be pretty packed down here.

What a long, strange trip its been!!

     Tom,

Your room will be quite. I promise you will not hear any traffic along the seawall. You will enjoy the view immensely! Just wait and see. All your cares will be washed away with the rolling of the tides....... ENJOY your trip!

    Peace, CherWink

Cool Thanks.  My room @ the Maravilla supposedly faces (the balcony) the ocean but it is on the 2nd fl.  So the view won't be that great but as long as i can smell the fresh ocean air (or hot air) i will be ok.  My brother-in-law told me that it was very hot in houston yesterday.  Up here in "The NBA Champion Celtics" neck of the woods the temps are 75-80 most days.  23 days and counting.  Thanks again for your support.  Tom from MAss

Once you get to Galveston Island.....All your worries will Melt Away.......Trust me.  I stayed at the Victorian Condotel back in 1986 for a week and loved it.....But that was then.  Not sure how it is nowdays.

Your family are in for the BEST trip in the world.....Galveston is a special Texas Paradise.  And this is from a person who longs to live there someday....but presently land locked in North Texas.  Big Smile
