Haven't seen anything from her either.   This danged power outage is giving me the heebies, not only out of concern for those who are having to live with it, but out of frustration in not being able to communicate with so many of us.   Just the few days that I was down without internet access, without a land line, and with even the cell phone working only sporadically, gave me some new insight into just how dependent we have become on these methods for stayng connected with our friends.  I am lost without them.

     Present.  Thanks for asking.

My house is one of the higher ones on Ave G. I haven't gotten back yet, but neighbors who have walked around the outside say I did better then most. Hope to have someone inside tomorrow.

I have been involved with some of the Relief Efforts in Houston. If someone can get me an Island contact I may be able to send something that way.

There is no place I would rather be right now then Galveston. I can't wait to get back!!!

Glad to hear from you Chevy.  It's beginning to appear that you all may be getting home quicker than we thought.  I know it won't be too soon for you guys.  Happy to know you made it with hopefully minor damage to your house.

They are/were ground level. Hopefully I will see for myself soon.

I fear for the Sunflower and the ground floor of The Original Mexican too.

I'm in New Braunfels. We had a family reunion yesterday. My grandson, granddaughter-in-law  and great granddaughter moved back to Texas fron Californica yesterday.

I have internet access. Just don't have much to say. I miss the smell of salt air and the sound of seagulls.

I've been in e-mail contact with the real estate guy who handles my house. He said that the owners did a drive-by and the house looks OK from the street.

Has anyone heard anything from Mojo? I worry about her.

Good to see you posting again, lurker.  I hope your house does turn out to be okay.  I have a feeling that the structures behind the seawall and nearest to the front side like your house is may have fared bettter with the flooding than those nearest the bay side.

I think mojo is probably okay.  I think I remember that somebody has been in contact with her by phone since the storm.

If they aren't blowing smoke, it sounds like they may be letting everybody back in by about this time next week, so hopefully you wont have to wait too much longer to smell that salt air and hear them flying bandits squawking again.Smile

I got someone inside my house yesterday. I am on the 1200 block of Winnie, about 6 feet up from street level and had about a foot of water inside. Water appears to have entered and exited thru the AC/heat ducts in the floors. I have about 2" of mud downstairs. Hardwood floors are already warped and are now the color of my living room rug, kitchen cabinets(particle board from a 1980 redo), and appliances trashed. No sign of water or mold on the walls. My baseboard molding is about 12". I did have mold on some furniture. Trees down in yard, sections of my back deck leaning. All of the trash cans in the back alley are missing.

Very strong police presence. Squad cars riding tru the neighborhood shining lights on houses a couple times an hour.

Everything that happens will happen today.

Chevy, I know it could have been much worse, but it ain't like you have a lot to be cheering about right now.  Sorry you will be faced with getting a mess cleaned up when you get back, and living under not so ideal conditions.  Not gonna be too much fun, I know, but you will be home.

Good to hear that the law enforcement guys are out there in force anyway.

Had a Galveston friend whom evacuated with family at the house today.  THey had evacuated to Tomball area and where they are staying, no power!! The husband and her father are on the island each day now tearing out carpeting and walls at both homes.  She was glad to come by and spend some time with my better half and get a hot shower and actually use a hair dryer!!! Smile

sorry to worry y'all.  I found a computer center at the POD on Broadway.  The loft did stay true to its nickname "The Bunker" and was solid. Neighbor hood is coming together rapidly. Sky Bar, Stork Club, YGHA, Jaques, Saltwater Grill and Bob's, all busting it.  Every body working together.  Lurker gets dibs on the journal, but I am going to have to pre-edit it, as it is a jumbled mess. No one can concentrate on anything other than the next task that has to get done.

    Love Y'all, Mojo

I passed this comment on to Mrs. Dawg, old man.  You do remember that she is an ex English teacher, of course.  She did want me to give you her response, but I don't know how to show hand gestures by this medium.  Big Smile

Where might I find those pictures?

I am not down just determined. I hope I can save the floors!  They are original(120 years old). On a damage scale of 1-10 with 10 being some of the pictures I have seen of the West End I would give my house a 2.
