Umm, no. The maintanence man for my building had forgotten his keys and called to let him in.  I came down in camo sweats, no bra and no shoes with old tee to let him in.  He was not to be seen in my entry, so I exited onto the sidewalk to find him in front of the building next door, with a neighbor.  While they were hasseling me about the no shoes stuff, Billingsley came by (He sure is purty) and was nice enough to edit me out.

I did a drive thru over the Thanksgiving weekend.  I was surprised to see all the businesses that were closed.  I suppose people are awaiting insurance checks or they did not have insurance at all.  I never made it downtown, just up 61st and around the North end (think it called harbour or industrial blvd).  It was really sad.

I walked through Strand on Saturday and was encouraged by what I saw.  More shps have opened since Dickens/Rally weekends, albeit with reduced stocks, but they are building up.  No reataurants have reopened on Strand as of yet, but again, they are working on it.  Many of the Post Office Clubs are reopened, and I had the pleasure of meeting Bubba Smith (http://www.hbo.com/events/breakingthehuddle/) at Connelly's Corner Sat night. (man that dude is HUGE!). Also shops are opening up around downtown, it is coming along.

BR, for us that don't live there, it is sad to see on the first trip but think how far the Island has come since Ike. We are in our same habitat and don't see change but those on the island can celebrate each small accomplishment toward normalcy. Everything will be good again on Galveston Island..not exactly how it was but that is okay, too. I'm sure the insurance issue holds up the process but think about a 8-12 foot surge of water across the island gutting everything in it's path...gonna take a lot of time to rebound from that mother nature *** slap.

You are unique just like everyone else. Hmm

There seems to be an employee or lack there of issue on the Island. Tons of "Help Wanted" signs. I'm guessin many did not return, or haven't been able to live on Island as of yet.

To me, that explains the absents of open stores..some anyway.

    Keep Hope

Any news on any of the clothing stores? There didn't seem to be much going on last time I looked in the BASS outlet etc.

Everything that happens will happen today.

I saw some of Nic's work at the Biker Rally-or was it at Dicken's.  But it is safe to assume that his studio was flooded.
