And my LAAAARGE! Greek salad with the gyro slices wasn't too shabby either, washed down with a couple of Mythos beers.  Only needed a truck to transport the leftovers home.  Unless I haven't had a square meal in a week or two however, I think I'll go with the small salad the next time.

    Great food.

    Burp.

Hmm.  I dunno.  From where I was sitting, I didn't see one, and we were sitting essentially in the same place that Peg and I were seated in our first visit back in the summer, so I don't have a very broad frame of reference in that place. We were seated right on the railing in the most northwesterly corner of the deck overlooking the water.  I was looking across the table at several good looking broads (including my spouse, I hasten to add), framed by a view of the harbor, so I guess my attention was diverted too much to make me of any use as an astute observer of my surroundings. Cool

Oh, and I recall that the manager told us that they will be having live music on Friday night (maybe every Friday night?), but I don't recall the name of the group for this Friday.  He says also that they are depending a lot of word of mouth advertising, so....I'm here to do my part.

I've only been there twice now, and was favorably impressed both times. I do recommend the place.

I have only been there once, but have been to the seawall location a few times since the Harborside place opened. I thought with the weather cooling off sitting outside and watching a little football would be a nice way to waste an afternoon.

Yeah, that definitely would be a neat way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  Like maybe tomorrow for example.  Might be worth suggesting that to the manager, whose name I didn't catch.  I suspect he could be receptive to the idea, since they are trying very hard to please customers.

I think tomorrow sounds like a grand plan. Got a time in mind? A particular game?

Well, I'm afraid I opened mouth without first engaging brain.  I have to confess that I was guilty of failure to check with higher authority prior to making rash statements. Mrs. Dawg seems to have other plans in mind for the resident yard grunt tomorrow. The artistic gardner prunes and the yard grunt cleans up the mess.  But, it will definitely be a great day to be outside, I'm thinking, so I might as well look at the brighter side of the issue.

But, as for the games, there's the Red River Rivalry....Texas/OU....on ABC at about noon if I remember right.  That's bound to be the game to watch, for sure.  And then the SEC has Arkansas vs Florida on CBS at 3:30 PM.   That's gonna be a full afternoon.  Stick out tongue  I don't see me doin' just a helluva lot of yard grunt work, regardless of the plans of higher authority. Angel

    Y'all enjoy.

Anyway, the big question insofar as the Olympia at Pier 21 is concerned is if there is a TV on the back deck.  Did you see one the other day, LB?

i did not notice one , but if they can assemble a band and play live music , i don't see why they can't roll out a tv. Did anyone notice our waitress the other day at the Olympia looked very much like an actress, even sounded a lot like her ... she was in the Birdcage , she was the birthmother of the boy.

Yeah, I agree.  Hmmm, now that you mention it, our waitress did look a little like that actress.  Dunno if I ever knew the name of the actress.  It's funny you should mention somebody looking like the actress, because one of our daughters' friends since childhood happens to be the spitting image of that same actress, and every time Peg and I see the woman on TV, one of us will remark, "there's Angela again".  Big Smile

And every time I think of the movie "Birdcage", I think of Nathan Lane trying to walk like John Wayne.  It cracks me up every time I think of Robin Williams reaction that he had never realized that John Wayne actually walked that way.  Big SmileBig Smile That has to be one of the funniest movies ever made.  Every time it comes on TV, I watch it and laugh just as hard as I did the first time I saw it.  Big Smile

I was there Friday. The only TV I noticed was behind the indoor bar. No one was watching it, instead all eyes were focused on the cruise ship docking. First time I had ever witnessed that. It was cool!

That would be more fun to watch than the boob tube anyway.  Never have seen that maneuver myself, except for the one and only time that I was a cruise passenger a few years ago, and I don't think you get the full effect from that vantage point..  They make it look easy, but it surely must be impressive to watch from the shore.

I'm afraid the story may be a bit too "eeew" for tender ears, but since you opened the subject, I guess I should esplain.

Mrs. Dawg and I took a Christmas cruise about eight or nine years ago, which led to the infamous Baguette event.  I got seasick the first night out, and as you might imagine, I skipped dinner that evening.  My faithful wife gave me a Dramamine, which did it's job (which is to say, it deadened my colon unto intestinal paralysis), and by the time the messy stuff had subsided, I was starving.  So, bless Peg's pe-picking heart, she found a stale baguette somewhere, and adding a chuck of cheese for a binder, we proceeded to create in my paralyzed colon, an amazingly insoluble turd which cured for approximately 45 days thereafter.

This tended to make me very grouchy over time, and, not to go into the sordid details, I can only say that I was finally able to pass the concrete turd we had created.  I now have a better understanding of the fun you ladies have during childbirth. I also considered bronzing the turd as a memento of the cruise, and maybe displaying it on our mantle, but this idea was vetoed by higher authority.

So....that's the story, for what it's worth.  I had hoped to forget it, but it shall always stand as the signal event of my one and only cruise.  I may do the cruise again, but I will avoid Baguettes and cheese.

You had better believe it. Tongue Tied

Anyway, I'm so happy that you enjoyed the re-telling of that sorry episode.  Tongue Tied

    Dawg,

That is Classic! I needed that on a Monday. Thanks!

    Dixie,

We were there for the whole ship docking ordeal. They parked that thing faster then I can parallel on Seawall Blvd on a holiday weekend. I believe it is all accomplished using two oars and a 10 hp Mercury outboard.
