An area of convection (thunderstorm activity) has flared up overnight in the west-central Caribbean. The area is associated with a tropical wave. Although conditions are marginal at this time, some development of the area may be possible over the next day or two as it generally drifts west towards the Yucatan. The satellite map below provides an overview of this disturbance and a subsequent link will provide the latest tropical weather map. Meanwhile, heat and drought continue to be the primary weather concerns here in southeast Texas.
