Wetter weather pattern emerging for Thanksgiving Holiday weekend

A return of shower activity to the area on Sunday and Monday will herald the emergence of a wetter weather pattern that should persist through the Thanksgiving weekend and possibly into early December.

Our first chance of rain will coincide with the return of Gulf moisture this weekend, followed by a cool front that should reach the coast late Monday. The cool spell should be short-lived with Gulf moisture returning again by mid-week. Meanwhile, another cool front will head into our area late Thursday or Friday as an upper-level disturbance moves across the southern Plains. This will give us a pretty good chance of some thunderstorm activity by Friday. In the longer run, the outlook for next weekend into early December calls for cooler and wetter weather than normal. So, while there is a chance that we may see a relatively mild and possibly rain-free Thanksgiving Day, much of the weekend should be on the wet side.

Below is a map depicting potential rainfall for late Monday and Tuesday (coutesy of NOAA). and maps showing the expected cooler and wetter weather pattern for the end of November and early December:
