Dinner at Mario's Ristorante Italiano is a treat

We went out to 61st Street the other night during the lightning storm, determined to try out the expanded space at Mario's.  Of course a rainy night apparently causes everyone to go out to a restaurant.  Sure enough, the parking lot was packed and we despaired that we would have an eternal wait.  But we were seated within 10-15 minutes and got service right away. The menu is extensive and the food is excellent.  I had Seafood Fettuccine and my companion had Ribeye.  Both were wonderful. Our friends ordered the "Antipasto Italiano" and a couple of us actually could have made a meal of that.  We tested two different wines, a bottled Chianti and then the house version--and the house wine won! The dining room is large but is configured so that it does not seem noisy or busy, even when filled with families eating pizza like the other night. If you haven't gone out there yet, don't wait.
