Great Burger at the Press Box

Before ArtWalk the other night we were driving around aimlessly downtown, trying to think of what we wanted for dinner.  Voilá, there appeared the Press Box and we instantly wanted one of their great burgers.  Big, juicy, well prepared, and all the trimmings I wanted.  The best part is that the fries come with the burgers.  And we all know that if you don't personally order the fries, they have no calories.  If you haven't tried the Press Box for a casual meal, by all means do.

You know, Diva, The Press Box is located a stone's throw from Galveston.com.  Have to tell you, though I only allow myself this 8th Wonder of the World once in a blue moon, the Press Box PATTY MELT & TATER TOTS are second to

Hey DrewK - I stopped by the Press Box yesterday and asked the owner, Rudy, about the Green Bay Packers helmet.  He remembers it well, but was sad to say, that someone walked out the door with it a few years ago.

How long has that place been there? I never noticed it until I started reading the forum.

As my memory serves me... that was actually not the original site of the Press Box.  Years ago they were across the street and down about a half a block.  THey later moved to that location. It think I gave my old hemet, it was really a half-helmet mounted on a picture frame I had gotten back in the 6 0's when I was a kid.

The original one might hav been opened... Early 90's, I think, but it could have been very late 80's... the memory is fried..

Yes, they used to be across the street, but that was before my time on the island.

Rudy thinks he knows who stole it.  A local Green Bay fan wearing a trench coat whose name has the initials "KT".  Apparently, the half helmet fit nicely under the coat.  I don't think KT is welcomed there any more.

I'll let Rudy know that you are the one that donated it and are asking.

If i';s the same Rudy that originally was in on opening the place, well he knows me.  Haven't seen him in a number of years, but tell him Drew says hello.

I had a very good cheese steak there last week. I think it was called "The Rocket" or something.
