It seemed only fitting to sample breakfast at this favorite local hangout, since they’ve been voted "best breakfast" several times in the past by customers and it's available any time they're open. Given our choice of booth or table, in a non-smoking section which had remarkably fresh air, we were quickly visited by a friendly waitress.
The menu is impressive with the many choices for traditional morning fare. Of course we started with coffee, which was tasty but not overly strong or acidic, important for our leisurely feast. The eggs-over-medium were lightly done, and perfectly juicy, to go with the tasty biscuit. Pan sausage (they also have link) was spicy and flavorful. Hash browns were a bit crispy for our taste.
The omelet was definitely “all the way” with vegetables, cheese, and 3 meats-- enough for the heartiest appetite—and was cooked to perfection with jalapenos that were spicy but mild enough for the timid. Grits were authentic and excellent when slathered with butter and salt (isn’t that what grits are for?). We also sampled a breakfast burrito, which was likewise loaded with all the goodies you could want.
We did encounter a glitch with our orders. We had requested a vegetarian omelet and received the one with three meats. We also ordered the burrito with sausage and it came with bacon instead. The waitress was very apologetic about this and offered to replace the items with no hesitation. The food was to our liking and service was prompt and friendly, however, so the ordering miscue would in no way deter us from returning for a fine "All-American" breakfast.
It’s easy to see why this is a local favorite. Good food, well-prepared, friendly and prompt service. It gets our vote.
